Safariland, an operating group of BAE Systems, Inc. is a leading supplier of law enforcement, safety and security equipment. The Ontario, California site is the headquarters for Safariland. Bianchi duty gear, Safariland duty gear, Hatch gloves and a small automotive OEM manufacturing business are managed at this location.
BAE Systems is a global company engaged in the development, delivery and support of advanced defense, security and aerospace systems in the air, on land and at sea. In the Ontario location, there are two areas of manufacturing, automotive OEM parts and duty gear. Duty gear consists of holsters, belts, pouches and other equipment worn about the waist by law enforcement, security and military. Also, within the facility, there is the body armor design department, raw materials/finished goods warehouses along with a consolidated shipping department.
This facility has undergone some recent changes with the consolidation of two warehouses that were previously in Temecula, CA into this facility. Individually, the warehouses were relatively small, but together are providing a new challenge in warehouse and inventory management. Also, the buying has now been centralized for all products and increased focus is being placed on purchasing matrix decisions as well as improved vendor management.
You will see how these products are manufactured and how the Ontario operations are dealing with such dramatic change.
